Students will learn the basic information any aspiring camera operator needs from curriculum created by Cherokee citizen and industry professional Tim Nagasawa.

Tim is a Cherokee Nation / Japanese American cinematographer. Tim’s versatile photography style originates in traditional art paired with a highly technical professional career. He is also experienced as a camera operator and a DIT on music videos, commercials, television shows and feature films of all sizes.

Dakota Adney
Dakota Adney Instructor

Cherokee Nation citizen and cinematographer Dakota Adney joined Cherokee Film Institute to lend his expertise and instruct “Intro to Camera Basics.” Dakota is a narrative and commercial cinematographer with a focus on highly visual, short-form narrative content. Raised in rural Porter, Oklahoma, he now splits his time between Tulsa and Los Angeles. His narrative work has been screened at film festivals worldwide and his commercial projects for clients such as Nike, Apple, DoorDash, NFL, Airbnb, Lexus and others have aired on national television.
